Self-Management And Balance

The fourth generation of time management, self-management and balance, recognises that time management is a deceptive term. The issue is not to manage time but to manage ourselves. This goes hand in hand with focusing on preserving and enhancing relationships.

We spend time in 4 ways, doing the

  2. Not urgent
  3. Important:
  4. Not important

Urgent and important define our activities.

What is Urgent?

  • Requires immediate attention
  • acts on us
  • usually visible
  • insist on action/presses on us
  • right in front of us
  • we react to urgent matters

What is Important?

  • Has to do with results
  • it contributes to your mission/your values
  • has to do with high priority goals
  • Important matters that are not urgent requires proactivity
